The Problem

There aren't enough indoor skate-parks in Portland. Let alone a not-for-profit one. I plan to create a park that will be of lower cost to the general public and free to those who cannot afford the admission of other parks. As well, I hope this place will encourage youth in my city to exercise more and become fit. All this will happen in a supportive and conducive environment. This will also help young or old people develop and acquire new skills. Through building new ramps, helping choose the parks layout, and using the park. This park will become a place where skateboarders from all areas and walks of life can come together and learn, create, and build friendships in a positive environment.

Plan of Action

I plan to build a park and use a sliding scale fee system for entry. This would enable low income families to utilize my resources. I will be taking input as to how the park should be laid out. During the building phase i will work side by side with volunteers from all age groups to put the park together. this will provide a place where older people can build leadership skills and younger people can build new skills that will be helpful in the job market. As well i plan to keep up on grants and other funding in case I do not bring in enough revenue to support the park off donations alone. I would like to be open for at least ten years. But, of course, first thing is first, I will be applying like mad for funding from various sources.
