The Problem

The four of us, all college students at SUNY New Paltz, would like to help the youth at the New Paltz Youth Program (NPYP) gain self-esteem and learn teamwork skills. The program we are focusing on is the drop-in center for middle school and high school students in the New Paltz school district. They have some great programs, groups, and recreational activities for the kids but we thought that a field day would be the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together to bond and have a lot of fun.

Plan of Action

We have discussed the project with staff and kids and everyone is really excited to work together to bring it to life. We are going to approach the businesses in town that usually donate to see about procuring food and drinks for the event. We will get the parents involved as well. We will choose a date, schedule the order of activities, form teams so that the kids can work out strategies and then we will be ready for the event.
