The Problem

Utah is the fifth hungriest state in the Union, and we are trying to grow 4 tons of food to feed refugees and others in need. The garden is located in the Murray area of Salt Lake City.

Plan of Action

We plan all winter and recruit new members. Starting on Global Youth Service Day (the 4th Saturday of April), we plant, weed, and pick fruits and vegetables all summer and donate the proceeds, rotating crops. We attempt to plant those foods that the refugees like most. So far we have harvested approximately 1,000 pounds of food.
