Operation Jersey Shore Vacation

the problem:

When service men and women deploy, families are separated sometimes a year at a time. That is a lot of missed soccer, basketball or football games. There are many important family milestones missed, births, birthdays, first steps etc.

why it's important:

Operation Jersey Shore Vacation gives back some of the precious family time these military families have sacrificed.

the plan of action:

I initially sent out an email to homeowners who rent their beach homes through my dad’s real estate office. From this I had several homeowners donate a week at their home. I created marketing materials, a website and brochure explaining my project. I diligently contacted several bases in New Jersey to try to establish military channels for “vetting” (selection of military applicants). By the end of the summer my persistence paid off. CMSGT. Mike Ferraro from the McGuire US Air Force base was willing to help me with my project. To increase awareness of Operation Jersey Shore Vacation (OJSV) to the community I met with and spoke at local organizations, such as the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Ocean County Board of Realtors. It was here that I recruited much needed help. We contacted newspapers and radio to help get the word out. All this publicity worked, several homeowners were contacting me to donate their home. By the end of the summer we were able to “deploy” three military families on a Jersey shore vacation

how you can get involved:

OJSV is looking for vacation homeowners who are willing to donate time at their property. We like to present each military family with gift certificates to local area attractions and restaurants, if you would like to give a certificate to your favorite restaurant or Water Park. We would like to expand into other areas support and promotion will be needed
