The Problem

The reality that a fellow teen William McMahon's death could have been prevented inspired CR members to take action in the hopes of educating awareness of the urgency of organ and tissue donation. Like most CR members William, a student at PHS, was healthy, active and happy. This all changed for him when he was inexplicably diagnosed with acute liver failure. After one successful transplant William bravely fought for his life for several months when it was determined that he would need a second liver transplant. It was waiting for this second transplant that William tragically lost his life. Kim McMahon, William's mother visited Chain Reaction last year to tell William's story. Thus, Have a Conversation Save a Life was born, five days in which CR members inform and inspire thousands of their peers to talk with their parents about becoming an organ donor.

Plan of Action

The actual event took place back in Nov. of 2009 but the plan of action was to dedicate an entire week to raising awareness to high school teenagers about becoming an organ donor.
