The Problem
The infrastucture of St. Anthony's Church Hall is displeasing. It has not been repainted since the 1970's.
Plan of Action
The church will supply all painting materials such as paint and what color it is going to be, brushes, (blue)
painters tape, and drop and thin clothes. Other protection such as goggles and masks to protect against paint fumes
and splatter will be optional for anyone who wishes to use one. Michael Restivo, the head of the building and
grounds for the church will be on site to make sure that safety procedures and protocols are followed and maintained
at all times, as well as to answer any questions that may arise from the project and what the church wants done. The
time schedule is about 5 days at 6 hours a day. There will be volunteers obtained and food will be provided by other
volunteers cooking. The church walls are low and there is no problem posed for any issues of ladders usage. Any
lifting done will be in groups to prevent any back injuries, but the chairs and the tables would be the only thing that
would have to be moved. The chairs would be put on the holders which are capable of rolling to and from the spot to
be worked on.
Volunteers will be asked for 4-6 hours of their time depending on their schedule and can determine what day will
be great for them within the days allocated for this project. The proposed number of volunteers is somewhere in the
range of 10-15 people. The project can be done with teams, as with one team does the painting, and another cleans. I
have considered to give teams break or rest as needed, and a 30 minute lunch or food break midway through each
day. I will be contacting the shopping team to notify them of the dates, so that the supplies will be there when we
start this project. I will be able to provide a materials list of what items I require.
Step 1: Contact Shopping Team to notify start and materials and where they are going to be, to be sure they are there
on-time.
Step 2: Plan the teams, hours and days and times in schedule.
Step 3: First Day – Collapse chairs and tables and move to opposite side of side working on down in the hall.
Step 4: Pre-Wash and prep the walls, removing the fixtures and hardware and clean – End of First Day.
Step 5: Second Day – Apply Painter’s Tape to prevent or restrict paint.
Step 6: Lay Drop Cloths and then the thin cloths to protect the floor from paint.
Step 7: Apply Gripper Primer to walls to make walls sticky so paint can adhere properly. End of Second Day
Step 8: Third Day - Go in and start painting the walls the desired color, spot check for paint re-checkups. Attentively
we would the like to paint the entire project the entire day.
Step 9: Remove the blue tape, the drop and thin cloths at the end of the third day.
Step 10: Fourth Day – Orange Glow any wood paneled walls. Put back the chairs and tables as they were at the end
of the day. Put up any fixtures taken down.
