In an effort to accomplish these goals, Painting for Pantries has established contacts with several schools. Both Bowen Elementary and Kent Hills Elementary have expressed interest in engaging local students in participation. These students will be provided with a fun opportunity to paint their own unique design on canvas bags, and the students’ finished products will then be distributed to local food pantries as well as the Red Cross’ Emergency Response Vehicles. Other organizations have also expressed interest in contributing, including local businesses. The pictures displayed document two different instances of the Painting for Pantries project in action. Not only have the participants provided an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic bags for local food pantries, they have done so in a fun, unique manner.
