The Problem

Last year my 11th and 12th grade Environmental Science class tried to "go paperless." We purchased digital copies of our textbooks like silent spring and cape wind. We stopped printing out assignments, we wrote responses to readings digitally. But in the end found that reading on our computers hurt our eyes, made our legs way too warm, and wasted a lot of electricity. Low energy e-readers are the missing link.

Plan of Action

I teach my students about the value of conservation and push for them to stop wasting paper when they print out every little assignment. We are thriving in a paperless classroom and are trying to write grants for an e-reader for each student.
