The Problem

We are trying to solve to issue of local animal shelters having to put down their animals. We are working on starting a non-profit organization called WAG Inc. The point is to create older volunteers to work in the animal shelters in their free time. Also a long term goal is to, when school is in, go to after school programs and teach children the importance of spaying and neutering. We also are setting up drop boxes for donations of pet supplies, which is to go directly to local animal shelters such as WARM Farm, Conway SC and Project Pet, Columbia, SC. A big goal for WAG is to reach out to kids and get them involved. We think kids can make a change, a big change. In our upcoming events which we are in the progress of planning, we will be talking to kids and getting them on board.

Plan of Action

We are planning fundraisers such as an art shows and dog and cat food drives. Long term plans are to host a local 5k run to support local shelters. Once more older kids join, 16 and over we will begin teaching dog training techniques. Trained dogs are more likely to be adopted then ones with anti- social tendencies. We also are creating a cyber shelter for animals at WARM Farm. We believe this will help them greatly, for they are so overwhelmed with animals they cannot take anymore. Starting in the Fall we will form speeches and presentations to give to local schools explaining the importance of spaying and neutering as previously mentioned. Another step we are taking is to attract people to adopt pets at adoption days. All this will take money, especially paying for the 501(c)3 application preparation. This is why we are designing t-shirts to be sold on our website. Hopefully this will help.
