Peers Mentoring Peers (PMP) is a program designed to assist new freshmen students while making the transition from middle school to high school with the assistance of an upperclassman help. The PMP program provides each freshman student with:
- Freshman Orientation (Fish Camp) that consists of summer activities usually held in the month of August.
- Ice Cream Social for incoming freshmen students and parents. This is an opportunity for both students and parents to meet and get acquainted with peer mentors and the coordinator(s) of the PMP program. This event is tentative scheduled one week before the opening day of school.
- Freshman Seminar classes that meets three days per week for 30 minutes each day during the freshman’s school year.
- A support group in the Freshman Seminar class that consists of an upperclassman peer mentor, a freshman faculty advocacy advisor, and an academy counselor.
- An ongoing orientation to high school provided by a peer mentor that introduces freshmen students to school policies, procedures, programs, extracurricular activities, and personnel.
- A collaborative environment (Freshmen Seminar) during the school day that allow students to share in individual discussions with their peer mentors, faculty advocacy advisors and /or academy counselors issues regarding school and school related concerns.
- An opportunity to articulate his/her freshman goals for high school by developing a personalize Four Year Plan with the assistance of the PMP team members.
- An opportunity to explore his/her career goals by utilizing The Career Choices Guide, Workbook and Portfolio.
