Pending Freedom

why it's important:

It is important to me because I am alive, I am alive and am witnessing during my life people that are hurt and enslaved. After reading many articles, attending several conferences and reading about 8 books surrounding this issue, I've decided that human trafficking must be an industry that is shut down. Although problems such as this one are difficult to eliminate, I am going to attempt to do the best I possibly can to bring people together and combat this issue.
Working on majoring in Psychology and hopefully one day receiving a Ph.D in Psychology, I am extremely interested in the conscious and the cognitive process of each and every person. Knowing that we all have a conscious, it truly brings tears to my eyes to know that people and even animals are taken advantage of every second somewhere in the world.
For several years now, I've been determined to dedicate my life to helping whoever and however I can. No matter what the circumstances are and my lack of funds, I would much rather give/help someone else instead of going out and satisfying simple pleasures. Because the increase of these simple "pleasures," I believe it's one of the issues that my generation and age group suffers from.

the plan of action:

My plan of action includes first getting people involved and informing them of the human trafficking issue. Since putting together several networks, I've been able to create a MySpace and build that network to a little over 5,000 members. When looking at the amount of people that have taken the time to come across my web page, MySpace and Facebook - that I've created to help build awareness - the number is at least 20,000 hits.
I've also taken the time to create my own "Freedom" t-shirts to help build the awareness for the fight against human trafficking. I've ordered and created 100 of these and have been giving them out, at no cost. At the same time, I've ordered 8,000 informational flyers for the fight against human trafficking and have been distributing them with friends, accordingly.
Recently, I've ordered and soon will have 3,000 "Freedom" wristbands. Which I will hand out, again, at no cost. To build more awareness and obtain more individuals willing to become more involved in building awareness and combating this issue.
The flyers created have been sent to and distributed in Arizona, California, Ohio, North Carolina and Oregon.

With being a full-time student, paying for college myself and attempting to get by with a low paying full-time job. My funds have been limited, but I've not become discouraged and have yet to slow down in my attempts to fund this project. I expect to keep raising money and creating more ideas to help build the awareness needed.

how you can get involved:

Individuals can become involved by donating to many non-profit organizations registered in helping victims and potential victims.
People can also become involved with the Pending Freedom awareness project but simply contacting me via email and explaining what their goals are and what how much time they're willing to dedicate to the awareness project. When individuals contact me with the goals of becoming involved, I do my best to provide and ship items to them that they can distribute in their communities for the awareness project.
