Performers for Progress is a community service/ performing arts organization that does benefit cabaret nights to raise money for various causes. The first organization they raised money for was the Haiti Medical Mission of Wisconsin. The Haiti Medical Mission makes regular trips to their clinic in the village of Thiotte in Haiti. In Thiotte there are only 2 cuban medical residents to care for the 25,000 people in the village and the 20,000 in the surrounding area. The Haiti Medical Mission's frequent trips help provide the area with free medical care. They rely entirely on donations in order to fund the trips and medical supplies. On November 29, eighteen numbers by forty students were performed in a local movie theater. The evening was called “A Cabaret Night: to benefit the Haiti Medical Mission”. It featured a variety of performances including musical theater, modern dance, pop, salsa dance, opera, rock, comedy, polish dance, jazz dance and more. Many of the dances were student choreographed, and the songs student written. It opened with a video educating the audience about the Haiti Medical Mission and its goals.
