Physician Assistant in an Underserved Area
the problem:
There is a severe shortage of primary care providers in many rural and urban areas. I want to help fill that ever growing gap and bring affordable health care to millions across the country.

1why it's important:
I grew up in a rural community and spent a few years out of the country serving others whose circumstances were even more dire than those I witnessed at home. I want to take those lessons learned and apply them to help those around me who find it difficult to obtain reliable medical care.
the plan of action:
I've already been accepted to an accredited graduate school offering a Physician Assistant program. I will begin classes in August 2010. If I can find funding to finance my education it would give me the opportunity to focus my efforts on providing quality care in a medically undeserved area rather than entering a high paying specialty to pay of my student debt.
how you can get involved:
By educating the public about the services a Physician Assistant can provide and supporting the movement to place more primary care physician assistants in rural areas.
