The Problem

Trying to teach Pontiac middle school students important life skills and provide them an opportunity to learn about careers and community programs. Students living in inner cities do not always get the support and motivation necessary to inspire them to excel. By giving them the skills they need and the confidence, they will be motivated to change the world!

Plan of Action

Through the various life skills sessions we helped students learn about resume development, effective communication and the like. The Career Fair gave them a chance to use their newfound skills as they met with local business leaders and learned about various careers and local communtiy programs available to help them get ahead. Students were blown away by the attention to detail and the caring attitude of career professionals who participated. Many realigned their career aspirations with their goals and dreams and felt more comfortable and sure of themselves.
