The Tri-Area Pregnancy Resource Center has served the communities of Grayson and Carroll counties and Galax for years. Through free programs such as “Earn While You Learn” and personal counseling, the center guides its clients toward pro-life decisions and teaches expecting parents about the birth process and how to care for the baby up to eighteen months. The pro-life ministry uses brochures, cards, and models to explain to pregnant mothers that abortion is not the only option for an unwanted pregnancy. In fact, after only eighteen to twenty-five days, a baby’s heart begins to beat from inside its mother. Through loving counselors and informational classes, scared and confused mothers all across the Twin Counties have delivered, healthy, happy babies. So far, from August 2006-2007, they have served 725 clients, male and female, and have been an active presence in twenty-seven births. By providing free pro-life pregnancy services, they have guided hundreds of expecting women and men to make a positive decision for their babies and have provided necessary items to care and support the children. The center’s most effective way of advertising is simply fliers posted around the area with telephone number, address, and services provided by the center. They have attracted most of the clients previously registered. The project I am proposing is an advertising campaign consisting of a couple people dispersing throughout the counties and posting Pregnancy Center fliers to raise community awareness. The project could include decorating fliers and translating them to Spanish, since many of the center’s clients are Hispanic. Places such as grocery stores, schools, restaurants, and even public bathroom stalls apparently draw mothers and fathers to seek counsel from the center. Depending on the number of people in the group, we could also host an event to promote knowledge of pregnancy and abortion. Please join with me in this project.
