A child in tears, flashing lights and arguing. This is what a police scene looks like. A bear is given to the child, but what can a bear do for that child? That bear will be that child's beacon of hope. Something to hug is a great comfort for a child in the middle of a crisis.
I want to help these children. So many children are caught in the midst of a crime. A police officer goal is for each child to have a buddy bear. To do this they need help.
My goal is to collect bears from several different sources and to make bears to give to local police departments and local shelters.
This is where a grant would come in. The more money I can get the more bears I can make. Each bear takes 1 yard of material, thread, 2 eyes, a nose and stuffing.
I am a Girl Scout and I plan to get younger children that are involved in Girl Scouts involved in helping me make these bears. The youngest children can help stuff the bears, while older children can make the bears themselves.
I am hoping that I will be able to obtain a grant to help with the important project.
