Benton is an extremely small community. If we ever tried to describe our town most people would have no idea about us. Last year a small club appropriately named BHS Go Green was formed to educate the younger children and their families about ways they can help save the environment. During Earth Week we held an assembly to promote going green and ecouraged everyone to come to school in the most eco-friendly way possible. This year we would like to continue what we began last spring. With our membership over doubling from 18 to over 40 people we have managed to get nearly half of our high school involved in this club. Go Green projects have even began to overflow into several of the classrooms of BHS. All teachers are high encouraged to recycle and several times I have heard students remind them to recycle. The media production class is in the process of creating a podcast about going green. This year our ideas include observing Earth Hour once per month, celebrating Earth Week once again, and planting several trees around our elementary school playground to create a windbreak.
