The Problem
Najafgarh is a small village on the outskirts of Delhi where sex trafficking is rampant. Prostitution has now become a part of their culture and tradition and is eating the society from inside. We work with a community of sex workers in Najafgarh, striving to pull them out of the cycle.
Project Fiza deals with the issue of Commercial Sex Trade. Through theater workshops and exercises, art and craft programs, simple dance exercises and performances, community building and singing sessions, we aim to provide life skills development. Through these media, we also strive to provide them with an alternate source of employment and push them towards education.
Plan of Action
We are bring a difference to the lives of three kinds of people:
The women involved in sex trade - It has now become a permanent source of income for them and their families and is now a tradition that they have no say in and are forced to follow. We attempt to provide these women with alternative sources of employment.
The vulnerable teenage girls - These girls are all ready to get married and to be sold by their families. We aim to spread awareness amongst them so that they can raise a voice and also indulge in better sources of employment.
The children - Little boys and girls who have almost lost their childhood due to these rampant activities and the situation in their village. Through stories, activities and games, we aim to show them a world of possibilities and a safer environment for them to grow.
