Project Girl Power
the problem:
The proposed project will consist 15 to 25 teenage girls.Over the years these girls have undergone tramatic adventures which included sexual abuse, running away from home, low self-esteem,homeless and drop-out in the early school years. My project's purpose is to inprove these existing conditions which seems to eat away or deteriorate our youth population of today.
The Milwaukee Northwest neighborhood is one of the largest part of Milwaukee Central City. This area is composed primarly of low-income, African American families. Many of the families are headed by single parents. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, 25.7% of families with related children under 18 years of age live in poverty and the percent increases to 42.9% for families with female-headed households. One of my prime purpose here is to educate the community through various resources and programs that incorporates self-esteem building, building new leadership skills and empowering young girls to do their very best at what they dream of.

46why it's important:
Through many hours of toiling with girls who exhibit failure as an excuse to their problems,I really found that if you provide the necessary resources and programs to aid in this massive deficiency, these girls will eventually start embarking upon future goals and ambitions that they have only dream about. It is a large challenge for me.I want to continue my success in making these girls dream a reality.
the plan of action:
1.Colaborated with local churches and community organizations. These resources provided me with the necessary ingredient to begin this fabulous project.2.Once I had selected the adequateamount participants,I will organize an effective group of teenage girls ranging from the ages of 11 through 20 years old.We will meet regularly(3 times a week). This organization will also consist of several mentors and an adequate amount of volunteers to help run this project effectively.
how you can get involved:
Join in the race to stamp out low-self esteem, sexual abuse and poverty in our low thriving communties.
