The Problem

Project PUMP endeavors to promote growth of tolerance, respect, motivation, friendship and community by working with at risk children and providing them with such knowledge to do so in Freehold Borough as well as within the wider community. Once a month Project PUMP plans to work with sixth graders in the Freehold Borough schools to help them better grasp tolerance among different cultures, focusing on religious, ethnic and gender factions. We will accomplish this by exploring topics such as teambuilding and civic responsibility within the community and providing students with a common goal, where they can put aside their differences and interact on common ground. Activies we will do include "The Human Knot", "The Spider Web", the "This and That Sheet". Interactive speakers, such as Keith Hawkins, will also be coming to speak with the children to give them moral guidance and instill hope for a better tommorrow. Any amount of money that we recieve will go towards needed substities such as *transportation -buses to State House in Trenton -gas for cars for monthly transportation to Freehold Boro *communication -200 copies of informative tolerance pamphlets -informative/attn. grabbing posters -200 “way to be” cards -other copies, posters, etc. *materials -mats -string, glue, paper, scissors, markers -candy -books -other necessary learning materials *celebration -t-shirts -achievement plaques -achievement medals -refreshments/snacks for end of year reception ($100) *speakers/training -Keith Hawkins -leadership training -other local speakers
