The Problem
The problem I am trying to solve is reducing the anxiety, stress and sadness that occurs with teens that are facing cancer and the difficult treatments. The mission of PROHope is to give teens facing a critical illness a place to get away from all the treatments, needles, medical procedures and other challenges that come with having a life threatening illness. PROHope renovates and creates dream bedroom makeovers for teens battling cancer. The goal of PROHope is to give the teens facing cancer a special place that is unique to them. Every request of the bedroom makeover recipient is fulfilled.
Plan of Action
I currently work with 64 volunteers through the student government association at my high school. To date, the PROHope team has completed three bedroom makeovers. My immediate future plan of action is to create two more dream bedroom makeovers during my senior year of high school. In addition, I am in the planning stage of taking PROHope into our neighboring state, Georgia. I am working with a church youth group in Atlanta to help coordinate a dream bedroom makeover in the summer of 2012. Finally, I will propose the idea of PROHope to TEAMVOLS at our local university when I start my studies at the University of Tennessee. The hope is that TEAMVOLS will help increase the volunteer base for PROHope.
