Project Wee Care
the problem:
We developed project Wee Care because as single parents and college students appreciate any help that we can get. The staff members behind the Wee Care Child Care Center are wonderful people that offer our children love, patience, and time. Recently, the Wee Care Center has accepted a child who has some physical handicaps. She has to wear leg braces on her legs which make it very difficult for her to get around. One day as I was picking up my son who is perfectly healthy I watched this little girl whose name is Olivia run trying to play in the rocks and I felt so horrible that I wanted to cry for her. I watch her wanting to be involved in playing with the other children and her twin sister who is in good health but she can’t because of the equipment that is available.

God has put it my heart to help, so here I am! As of right now, the play area at the day care has turf that is constructed of sand and rocks which can be very unsafe. The play equipment in this area is a play area made for individual families not a day care that only a few children can use at one time and it is not properly secured into the ground for the children as they play. When it storms outside the play equipment is turned over and it gets very dirty
the plan of action:
I began my search by looking for turf for the grounds. Rubber mulch is the best surfacing for safety reasons. I have found a place in Joliet, IL that sells these materials. I have spoken with the managers there and they have offered me enough materials to cover the play area and meet the states requirements for a price of $2,500 dollars. In order to create a safe accessible area for Olivia to play, I researched many playground companies. And after much searching, I found a play structure that can be securely place in the ground and that is accessible where Olivia can climb up to slide and play along with all of the other children. The play structure that I found that will fit this area is from the company Playland and it is priced at about $8,465.46 dollars, this price is without taxes and delivery.
