The Problem

Teen suicide is a rising epidemic in this world and the silence of it is killing people at a more rapid pace. My service is to provide information to my peers and adults about suicide that will place awareness in the community, in hopes to reduce the number of suicides in this world and to encourage those who may be facing the the pains and feeling of depression and suicide, to speak up about it, speak out to their families, teachers, and friends about, and to speak loud about the matter for others to receive the awareness as well.

Plan of Action

After losing a friend to suicide, I needed to make an impact on the world by helping my peers who may have feelings of depression and suicide. I began speaking at local coffee shops, churches, and events about the seriousness of teen suicide and its facts. Through these public speaking events, I took up donations that would go toward building a website, which would kick-off my non-profit organization- Purpose 4 You. Since then, i have taken this awareness of teen suicide into my high school and have spoken to 1/2 of the student body about such information, which is about 700 students. After speaking to them, a lot of my peers have came up to me saying that the words I had to say, helped them with their depression and suicidal thoughts and had encouraged them to seek help for it. Hearing those words from my peers helped me know that i was achieving my lifetime goals.
