Raising money for children in poverished countries with cleft lips.

the problem:

I want to help children in poor countries who can't afford to get surgery on their cleft lip.

vital stats:

people involved:

why it's important:

In the USA children who have this deformity can afford to get help. Poor children who cant afford it dont have the same chance or opportunity and I feel bad for them so I want to help.

the plan of action:

I will raise money by selling pop and water in my front yard, and at our pool to help pay for one child's surgery.

how you can get involved:

They can sell things. Old toys, clothes or lemonade outside of their house.

So far I have raised $4.00 toward my goal of $250.00

July 12, 2009 I raised $5 more dollars and I feel good about what I am doing. I only need to sell another 241 pops or waters to reach my goal!

WOW Kirsten! Great job! I think you are doing something VERY kind. I am very proud of you. Some child will be so blessed by your hard work! I love you!
Aunt Katie

Great idea, I would raise money but I am already raising money for another cause!

This is great! How are you getting the money to this cause? I wish I could help!

I am putting the money in an envelope until I reach $250 or until the summer is over. Then I will send a check to Smiletrian. That is great you are raising money for something else. If we dont help maybe no one else will.

Anyone can still help. Sell stuff in your own front yard or outside your community pool. You can send money in any amount to smiletrian. You could sell popsicles in your cooler too. I know some teen boys that charged money to fix kids bike tires and fill them with air. Or maybe a car wash.

Made $5.00 over the weekend. Up to $19.00.

My mom sent in $20.00 to help the children with cleft lips. Not the goal I wanted to reach, but every little bit helps. Maybe next summer I will earn more money.
