We are the library on a BRAC Military base with Air Force, Army, and Navy families. The kids who attend the local and base schools come into the library afterschool to do homework and wait for parent pickup.
We want to stop them from eating junkfood at that time! We want to put up a fat, overweight trashcan for them to discard the junkfood. Next to the trashcan we want to have a display with books about healthy eating, snacks and recipes. And finally, have small boxes of raisins for the kids to eat instead.
With the Iraqi war, we get little funding and still try to provide outlets for these kids who have at least one parent deployed. Often older children are watching younger siblings. The library is a safe haven for them and we try to keep them busy.
Please, we need:
1. "Fat" trashcan
2. 30 kids books about healthy eating and snacks
3. Boxes of raisins to replace the afterschool junkfood.
Thank you so much
