Recycling Program
the problem:
I want to start a recycling program at my school to combat the gross waste of many recyclable items. For example: everyday I see people throwing bottles, cans, and paper into the trash cans that abound at our school. These items just add to the millions of tons of recyclable material that is being wasted every year.

1why it's important:
I don't like watching people throw our planet away as if when it's gone, there will be another one to replace it. This is the only one we have, and since we are going to be living in it for quite a bit longer, we might as well do all we can to keep it clean. I recently read an email about someone's dream that there was no more water on Earth. Believe me, it was not a nice situation. So by recycling everything we are able to, we can ensure that the planet stays clean and habitable. One may think , "oh, someone else will do it, so i don't have to." the ironic thing is, everyone's thinking that.
the plan of action:
I plan to buy recycling bins to put next to every trash can in my school, and put posters up everywhere telling people how important it is to recycle. In addition, every month, I will organise a drive to bring in different things; for example, January will be ink cartridge month, February cell phone month, March plastic bottle month, April glass bottle month, and so on. Everyday, I and some other students will collect the recycling material from around the school (and perhaps teachers' classrooms), sort (if necessary), and take the material to a recycling center depending on how much was collected.
how you can get involved:
All you have to do is recycle whenever you can. It doesn't take much time, it's not that far out of your way. Opting for minor convenience now will result in major inconvenience later.
