The Problem

The City of Waldron has a recycling program that is saving Scott County of Arkansas 30% in landfill waste and cost of transportation. The Cultural Collaboration Club of Waldron High School believes that they can save another 10% of landfill waste by recycling paper, tin, aluminum cans and plastic bottles. UPDATE: We have been successful in saving the extra 10% in landfill waste and have added cardboard recycling to the project.

Plan of Action

The Cultural Collaboration Club thought recycling would be very beneficial to our community and for our earth and therefore talked with the leaders of the City Recycling Works program to see how we could accomplish our goal. The city is lending us there bins until we can apply for grants to get our own bins. We have 75 bins on our campus that are emptied twice a week by the CCC members. The County Judge, the City Mayor, the Superintendant of Waldron schools, the High School Principal, many teachers and other people in the community have praised the club for their efforts in recycling. UPDATE: We have added cardboard, and now are trying to get the kitchen to recycle their plastic, tin and cardboard also.
