Relay for Life

the problem:

We are raising money so that cancer researchers can have all the means to find a cure. This is a nation-wide organization, and my family created a team to help contribute to this cause.

vital stats:

people impacted:

1,000

people involved:

15

why it's important:

My aunt died of breast cancer in 2004, and my grandfather currently have kidney cancer. I want to help get rid of this disease so that no one else will have to go through what my family have gone through. Our team, Karen's Krew, is named after my aunt who died, and we do fundraisers and car washes so that we can raise more money.

the plan of action:

We have done car washes at banks and stood outside the seven eleven gas stations so that people could give us their spare change or whatever they could afford. Our team alone has raised over $30,000 through the years. Every June we have a Relay where we spend the night walking on a high school track to help raise more money and to show that we are dedicated to finding a cure.

how you can get involved:

Anyone can join a team to help raise money, they can donate, or just come to the Relay to show their support.
