The Problem
My volunteer group is a girl scout troop going for their gold award. We are restoring a cannon in our town's local cemetary. This will benefit our community's Lion's Club, everyone that visits the cemetary, and of course it promotes pride in our military. As of now, we have a memorial day service every year, and the scenery isn't as it should be to commemorate our veterans. By restoring our cannon we're making the service even more memorable.
Plan of Action
So far, my group has planned out with our local project advisor how to restore the cannon. We know that we have to put a tarp under the cannon to catch loose paint chips, then we have to sand blast the paint off. Next, we have to prime and paint. Then we plan on putting a concrete base under the cannon (putting the tires off the ground) to slow further decomposition of the tires. Lastly we will add mulch around the whole cannon and add a plaque detailing the cannon.
