The Problem

Reverse the Course’s mission is to provide marginalized girls with an education that will dramatically change their lives. We fund tuition, boarding, uniforms, and textbooks to girls who otherwise have no hope of attaining a secondary education. In turn, we encourage these girls to use their education to benefit their families and communities.

Plan of Action

I use 100% of the proceeds from my hair accessory company to provide the funds for girls to attend school. My primary focus is funding secondary education, which is nearly impossible for girls in developing countries to attain. Through sales at my website, reversethecourse.org, and donations, I've funded 37 years of schooling for 18 girls. Several plan to attend university to become doctors, several want to teach, one wishes to become a lawyer, and others to begin their own businesses. I taught sewing workshops at two schools in Uganda this summer and continue to send materials and sewing supplies to those schools for their use in developing their own industry. One school used the supplies and held a week-long workshop during the December break. The workshops were attended by more than those who I am funding; they were attended by everyone at the school.
