When I first had the idea to create "Ribbons for Ribbons" I went to the bank and opened a savings account with Ribbons for Ribbons as the name on it. I created my website that same week and contacted the Maine Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI). I scheduled an interview with MMCRI and they created out promotional postcards that we hand out and our press release.
After "Ribbons for Ribbons" was established as an organization, I began promoting it through word of mouth, and also through the media. I wrote letters asking for pledges of support in competition, and continued to update the website.
Hours of time go into preparing for a horseshow/competition. I had to have both myself and my horse Charlie at the top of our game so that we could earn the highest scores possible for our pledges for "Ribbons for Ribbons".
Even though I have already promoted "Ribbons for Ribbons" for an entire competition season, I know that it is still in it's early stages. It is something that I will continue to promote and continue to raise money for. Since its start in April 2008, "Ribbons for Ribbons" has raised nearly $2,000 and we are not ready to stop yet!
