Riley Spirit Week
the problem:
Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana is one of the leading hospitals in the nation. However, even people here in Indiana are unaware of everything Riley does for families from around the country. My project will bring education to those in the BCSC school district as well as raise funds to support the efforts of Riley.

My seven year old sister was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor in 2008 and became a Riley patient. The people there are WONDERFUL!! You could not ask for a better place to take a child who is sick.
the plan of action:
I plan on starting a Riley week in the elementary schools, starting with the school my sister attends. Each day will be a different spirit day (wear red, hat day, mix match day, etc). Then during the week students will have the opportunity to put together baskets for silent autions, get pictures taken with friends, and collect canned food and teddy bears. On Saturday, there will be a silent auction to auction off the "themed" baskets that the kids put together as well as get family portraits done. All proceeds of the photo shoots will be donated to Riley along with all proceeds from the auction.
