The Problem

This past year my mother and I have been collecting clothes and toys from friends and families with children. We sent about six large boxes to the orphanage “Centrul de Plasament NR. 3” in Sibiu, Romania on the 16th of February 2007. After arriving in Romania in May, we immediately went to the orphanage to meet the children. We passed out the toys and clothes. After, we bought extra snacks, food, and drinks that were needed. We were also told they needed more school supplies and those were also donated. After meeting an orphan Gheorghe, a tux for his middle school graduation was also bought. We visited the orphanage for the rest of the month and into June until we left on June 6th. This trip had a huge impact on my life and I have made great ties. Next year I plan to return and do more work in orphanages. I also plan to follow one of the women workers to low-income family’s homes that are more in need of food and clothes. We have already started collecting more clothes for next year.
