the problem:
The problem we are tackling is funding for research on brest cancer. We are also trying to raise awareness of breast cancer to people and inform them about the disease and treatment options.

This issue is importan to me becasue you never know when that person battling cancer will be you or someone you love. Also, millions of women are fighting breast cancer and every development in research helps them out tremendously. We are working through the WBCA and donating to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund a 501 c(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
the plan of action:
My plan of action is to host a "Pink Zone" Night. Everyone coming to the high school basketball game is invited to wear pink and participate in fundraising activites. These activities would possibly be a raffle for donated items, purchasing pink items, donating for pink baked goods provided or offering a donation jar open to anyone. So far, we have set the date for January 23, 2010 and we have also begun designing t-shirts for the night. We just bought pink shoe laces for the team through a breast cancer awareness site as well.
how you can get involved:
Others can help by wearing pink the night of the event or buying raffle tickets for the items available. However, we also need people to donate items to be raffled as well.
