The Problem
There currenlty exists a large population of academically advanced, highly talented, and socially mobile Latino youth who continue to disconnect, ideologically, geographically and otherwise, with the larger U.S. and international Latino Community. Consequently, insufficient ecducation, civic, politcal, business, social, and religious sectors perpetuate and fail to adaquately address the needs, beliefs, and assets of the 21st century Latino Community let alone cultivate the next generation of youth.
Plan of Action
The SACLC was created over 10 years ago by a handful of high school students and their families. In order to create a sustainable organization these individuals and those after them have worked to collaborate with local high schools, local colleges and universities nationwide, as well as collaborate with business and other individuals who are invested in the continued development of the Latino Community.
If selected for the grand prize award we can further the sustainability of this organization by investing funds into scholarships for students to continue their participation in the programs we are affiliated with as well as potentially invest ingenerating a financial engine for our organization so as to create financial sustainability for the SACLC, as well as the surrounding community. Additionally, winning the grad prize will further cement the reputability of the SACLC to other entities that are hesitant to invest in such a precarious economic climate.
