San Diego Humane Society

This volunteer experience has impacted my life and I plan to stay committed to this established organization. I have made an impact on the San diego Humane Society by becoming a responsible volunteer. I volunteer my time every weekend through the school year and commit to two hours a month. I am there for the animals and provide emotional support for them with my presence alone. I also interact with the animals by grooming and entertaining them. The Humane Society impacted me with the unique experience I had with one animal named Lucy. took the time to show people how sweet Lucy really was, people began to take notice. Lucy taught me that looks can be deceiving. We cannot always judge what is on the outside. We should take the time to fully understand something before we judge. She taught me to recognize the truth in today’s society and the truth is not always pleasant. Lucy was my best friend at the San Diego Humane Society, a good listener and calm companion. I am proud to say I made a difference in Lucy’s life and that my gentle care gave her the safety to break out of her shell as a pitbull by showing the world her true personality and attract a new, loving home. Although Lucy is gone, I will remember her and of the lesson she taught me for the short time I was with her.
