The Problem
In the rural village of Ananthaiahgaripalli, situated in the southeastern part of Andhra Pradesh, India, there is a dire lack of educational resources and a low standard of living due to these deficiencies. The available ground water is contaminated, leading to widespread transmission of disease, a lack of health and sex education which leads to an exacerbated medical situation, and the simply inability of the villagers to become the autonomous directors of their own lives.
Plan of Action
We, The Sanjeevani Project, are a student-run non-profit organization that aims to build educational and health facilities in Ananthaiahgaripalli, India. We will create a personalized curriculum, in line with the State's regulations and with the specific needs of the village inhabitants. We will hire teachers, construct the school, provide clean water and transportation systems, and better healthcare resources. These investments will be a sustainable method of not directly changing the lives of the villagers, but giving them the agency to live their lives in the most personally beneficial way possible. Our aim is not to destroy village life, but to allow it a chance to flourish.
