Poor health has been an ongoing issue in Africa. Before I left for Africa in 2008, many people, including my family and myself, were nervous about the AIDS epidemic. Education is key to helping these people.

After my visit to Africa in the summer of 2008, I saw the worst of the worst. However, in those awful conditions, I was also able to meet some of the most kind people that I have ever met. These people have nothing, and yet they are so filled with joy and hope. I truly believe that these people deserve a chance at life just like we have here in America.
the plan of action:
EDUCATION! I do not believe that when one travels to a poverty stricken country that they should bring food, supplies, etc. Yes, that does help them for a short period of time, but what happens when the food and supplies run out? We need to educate these people to use the resources they have to better themselves.
how you can get involved:
Prayer. I believe that there is a God that cares and loves us, even after seeing the poor conditions that these African people live in.
