Save Our Planet By Recycling

the problem:

Our landfills are running out of space and we are killings billions of trees each year, as well as wasting water, oil and energy to make paper and cardboard, just to throw it away.

vital stats:

people impacted:

2,220

people involved:

11

why it's important:

I want my planet to be clean for my grand children and great grand children

the plan of action:

Help my senior high age Girl scouts start a recycling project at the school where they meet and I work.

how you can get involved:

My Girl Scouts went to the mayor's office last year to discuss issues with recycling, as we do not have curbside pickup in our small town of 8,000. He informed us of a local organization that he helps the city sponsor by writing a grant for their funding. This is a "Special Workshop" for mentally challenged adults, where jobs are created for them and recycling is provided for our city. The center comes once a week and collects our paper and cardboard trash free of charge (since Scouts is a non-profit organization) We planned the school pick up for each mornign or afternoon and several students vbolunteered to help weigh the bins and return them to the classrooms
