The Problem

I am trying to get youth involved in violence prevention. My state of KY has the highest number of child abuse fatalities in the country. Domestic violence and child abuse are the two most common crimes reported in Scott County after traffic violations.

Plan of Action

I founded a club, we have 78 members. We have identified the 9 types of violence that most threatens the youth in my county. These are domestic violence, child abuse, bullying, gangs, teen dating violence, suicide, hate crimes, and war and genocide. We campaign against a different type of violence each month with posters, editorials, plays, radio and TV public service ads and other creative ways to increase awareness and solicit commitment to non-violence by the community.

Project Updates

we researched the problem of teen dating violence and camapigned for more awareness and committment to prevention. We wrote and produced a play showing how relationships can become unhealthy due to jealousy and intimidation. we also had question and answer discussions about teen dating violence.
