Saving Lives through Water Pasteurization
the problem:
Each year in third world countries over 2 million children die because of water borne illnesses. Approximately 80% of illnesses and deaths in third world countries can be attributed to water related diseases. Providing WAPI's to third world counties will save lives by enabling people to pasteurize their water.

25why it's important:
"To leave the world a better place than you found it" is a famous quote I try to live by. This is important to me because I know this is a real problem faced by millions everyday in third world countries. This is truly a daily disaster of epic proporions. Because it is ongoing, it does not receive the media attention like many other disasters that are more sudden in nature. I have made WAPI's in the past and this is a project that is fun for all involved yet helps so many in need. As a senior in high school I would like to show new students at both the high school and Jr High level how to construct WAPI's in hopes they will continue once I am gone.
the plan of action:
Secure funding, order WAPI kits, bring High School group together and teach them how to construct WAPI's, bring Jr. High School group together and teach them how to construct WAPI's. Send assembled WAPI's to third world countries. Provide both groups with statistics and information on how they are helping third world countries and how they can continue to help others in the future. The construction of WAPI's has the potential of saving thousands of lives.
how you can get involved:
Have a WAPI party! Start your own WAPI group and post it here. Lets see how many WAPI's we can make and what countries around the world we can help! [Contact information removed by administrator]
