Saving the Office
the problem:
I am an administrative assistant for a Civil Engineering Co. After working here for a day I realized that this industry is very wasteful. I decided that I needed to change that, so I went to my manager to see if there was any type of recycling program, there was not. I then came up with a plan. In order for this plan to work I needed to get the whole building involved My plan is to get a simple recycling program that includes bins for paper, plastic and aluminum. Once a week they will be taken to a recycling center by one of the companies that have volunteered. We will rotate between companies for this task. Also each company will have volunteers within, which will dump their bins into the big bins each afternoon.
By getting a building that has eight floors and several companies to recycle, I hope to make a small impact on the environment and maybe inspire many to start recycling at home. . I am now responsible for the company’s waste control and impact on the environment.
