The Problem

The town of Makondo, Uganda, is one of extreme poverty and struggle. However, a non-profit organization called Into Your Hands is helping more and more every day by building schools, paying for children's education, providing mosquito nets to prevent malaria, and a project called Send a Piglet Home, which is the focus of my project. SAPH creates a steady income for an orphaned child or family by providing them with several piglets and the training to take care of the piglets. The pigs breed and produce piglets to sell at market later, which is an area of income for the family or child, paying for essentials like mattresses, soap, or clothing. The piglets change lives, and all it takes is a simple donation of $200. I hope to raise awareness and funds for this incredibly worthy cause.

Plan of Action

My plan of action is to raise awareness and money for the Send a Piglet Home fund and consequently the Into Your Hands organization, getting the money back to orphaned children and families in Makondo, Uganda. There has already been a large impact on the lives of sixty children: click on the following link to read about the project in more depth and find out about Nabakooza Mary, a girl whose life was changed by the Send a Piglet Home project.
