The Problem

She’s the First is a not-for-profit that funds education sponsorships for girls in the developing world. In most cases, a girl who benefits from She’s the First will be the first female in her family to graduate from secondary school. In a world where seventy percent of out-of-school youth are girls, immediate action is needed to ensure a future of universal education that will put an end to global poverty.

Plan of Action

She’s the First is a web-based, volunteer-driven organization that produces revenue when supporters independently host their own fundraisers for a girl’s sponsorship. It also hosts two marquee events each year, the GIRLS WHO ROCK benefit concert and its Soiree in New York City. In its first full year of existence, She’s the First raised more than $13,500 to sponsor at least 37 girls for a year. The girls’ schooling is overseen by exceptional not-for-profit partners that She’s the First has secured in several developing countries.
