Shoes for Kids

“SHOES FOR KIDS” is an idea my daughter and her friend began one year ago with the idea to do a 'shoe drive' for kids shoes by taking donations of new and gently used shoes and socks and donating them to local school children. It began as what may have been a one-time thing and a year later the girls (with the help of a few of their school friends at times) have given away over 850 pr of shoes to local children, 3 families that were victims of house fires in their southeast Kansas area, 150 pr to Alabama tornado victims and 200 pr to Joplin tornado victims. They now hold a few fundraiser events to maintain a little bit of money b/c when they don't have a requested size, we go buy a pair. The girls are very proud of the accomplishment and now consider it an everyday 'forever' thing that they will maintain. They are now planning to apply for a few small grants to help maintain their supply. We GREATLY appreciate the support of the citizens of Neodesha, Ks and Neodesha School District for their continued donations, as well.
