The Problem

I'm not trying to solve a problem but help contribute to a problem that has been going on for centuries. People that slavery ended decades ago, and it hasn't. Slavery is so real today, and there are still many people who are not yet aware of the reality of modern-day slavery. I'm helping contribute to donating loose change and raising funds through car washes, bake and bracelet sales to help the human rights agency, IJM, hire devoted work forces to help end this injustice.

Plan of Action

This year I have started this project within my school to help raise funds to help International Justice Mission raise stronger workforces to prosecute perpetrators and find and free slaves. We are collecting loose change outside of school on our own, but we're also having many fundraisers like car washes, bake sales, and bracelet sales. We, individually, are spreading awareness of these violent, lucrative industries whether through speech or through music. This is our first (and a half) official year of doing this project-- I'm the president, and a few of my friends are holding other officer positions. Specifically, we are associating ourselves with the student-led campaign Loose Change 2 Loosen Chains (started by Zach Hunter, a modern-day abolitionist).
