There is a crisis going on in Darfur. Millions of people are being killed and women are being abused and raped while going into the woods to get fire wood that they need to cook meals for their family. This is a serious issue that shouldn't be ignored. These innocent women are being attacked by men hiding in the woods and being raped and abused by them for no reason. Something has to be done so my school is helping to raise money for these women by buying them solar cookers. These solar cookers will make cooking easier for these women because it is powered by the sun and they no longer need to go to the woods for fire wood. These solar cookers cost as little as $15 which is like nothing to some people who would easily spend that on a shirt or a pair of shoes. So by starting this fundraiser we are hoping to buy as many solar cookers as we can to help these women.

This project is very important to me because i couldn't imagine how these women must feel. Doing a task that they have to do everyday which is cook for their families now must make them feel so scared. They have to worry about what is going to happen to them when they go to collect fire wood, whether they are going to be abused or raped by a man that day. So if we could all pitch in to help them and prevent them from getting hurt then that would mean so much. No one deserves to be hurt like these women.

To hang up posters in my school. I'm going to try to just spread the word and let as many people know as possible. Also to raise as much money as i can to help these women. So far in my school we have posters and flyers posted up all around the school and we also put together one of the solar cookers to show people what it looks like.On our morning show kudos there is a power point presentation describing what is going on in Darfur and explaining what the solar cookers are all about and how they work.I'm hoping that by letting as many people know as possible we can raise enough money to buy a lot of solar cookers for the women of Darfur.
