Our goal is to try to make schools and communities (including our own) more energy efficient by educating the younger students and older students about alternative energy. As a way to improve the efficiency of our classroom, we will install a solar panel on the roof to power a portion of the room. This solar energy will be used to power everything that is used to take care of our bird and bird cage. In addition we are trying to power our laptop cart which students use everyday to learn about many different things that have to do with any subject that they are studying. And because this is not just a Friends Central effort, we are also encouraging other schools to do similar things that help to make alternative energy a reality. We think that if we can spread it through the city of Philadelphia and around the suburbs it could become a trend and other people around the country will start using the power of the sun instead of burning our natural resources and everything to create non renewable energy.
