the problem:
I am aiming to bring greater music education and exposure to children at the Blythedale Children's Hospital, where I have been volunteering every week for one year. I believe that music is a valuable gift and that all children, no matter their circumstances, should be able to learn about and experience the wonders of music.

In 2008, I started a club called "Songs for a Cause" at Briarcliff High School. The club is composed of students from Briarcliff High School who have a love of music. This year, I would like to bring our love for music to the hospital's children by organizing one or two trips to the hospital where students of the club can share their musical knowledge with the patients.
the plan of action:
On June 26, 2009, the club held a benefit concert for the hospital which was attended by members of the school and community. We were able to raise awareness about the hospital's need of funding and donations as well as celebrate the love of music. However, this upcoming year, I would like to bring the club's love of music to the children in the hospital. I plan to organize a few visits that the students of the club can take to the hospital. We can organize a mini musical festival/event where students in the club can teach the patients about music and their instruments. We can expose the children to the endless opportunities in music and show them that everyone should have a chance to take part.
how you can get involved:
Anyone who is blessed with the gift of music should share their gift with those who may be less fortunate. It is important for everyone to experience music and learn about all it has to offer.
