South African Orphans
the problem:
The problem we are trying to solve is poverty, education, and health in the youth of South Africa's townships. Many children in South African townships dont have the luxury of being able to go to school or clean clothes to wear.

25why it's important:
This cause is important to me because not everyone is as fortunate as we are because of the place we were born. To me, seeing people happy when in such a bad situation is everything. Telling a child that he will be able to go to school. Seeing the face on a child when s/he realizes that there are people in this world that care about them.
the plan of action:
My rugby team went on a tour of South Africa in 2006. Before we left to South Africa we decided that we wanted to make our tip about more than just us. We found a small orphanage in a South African township and decided to help. Every person on the team went out and bought a backpack for a child. Inside these backpacks we all put new clothes, shoes, and hygiene products.
The impact we made was huge for these kids. The look on the faces of the children was amazing. They were so excited when they saw all the backpacks and clothes. Not only did they get clothes but they get one of the best gifts somone can get in South Africa, a chance to have an education.
how you can get involved:
Others can help by doing the same as we did. When you go on a vacation to another part of the world you can make that trip more than just about yourself.
